A television shoot in Oshawa for the fifth season of the Amazon Prime series Reacher has turned into an incredible event, with star Alan Ritchson’s reputation as a genuinely nice guy growing to almost legendary proportions.
Fans have been gathering at the former Kingsway motel on King Street in the city’s east end every day this week, eager for a glimpse and a chance to snap a photo with Ritchson, who has graciously accommodated each request with a smile.
The filming started Monday and will finish next Wednesday. Fans have flocked to the motel – referred to as Horseshoe Motel for production purposes – located at the intersection of King Street and Farewell Street, eagerly awaiting their moment with Ritchson during breaks and after shooting wraps up in the early evening.
Time after time, this beloved action star steps out to greet fans and pose for pictures. On one occasion, he even surprised them by bringing out pizzas for everyone to enjoy.

“Checked out the filming of Reacher season 5 in Oshawa today,” said Darryl Spicer. “Got a couple of quick glimpses of Alan Ritchson, but the coolest part was when one of his crew brought out 20 pizzas for all of us onlookers to share and said, ‘compliments of Alan.’ What a cool gesture!”

“A massive, from-the-bottom-of-my-heart thank you to Alan Ritchson, the amazing producers, and everyone on the set of Reacher in Oshawa for giving me the opportunity to meet him and grab a photo,” shared Mary Lynn Holmes on Facebook. “Alan is genuinely one of the most down-to-earth, kindest souls and an absolute gentleman – not to mention an incredible actor.”
