Jen passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2026. She’s now reunited with her dear father, Keith Brooks. Jen is survived by her loving mother, Michelle Brooks, and her brother Andy Brooks along with his partner Ashley Dawson. She was a caring aunt to Graham, Cait & Zoe. Jen will be fondly thought of by her sister-in-law Tanya Hayford and many friends and extended family.
Jen was a lifelong Girl Guide and an enthusiastic outdoorswoman. She proudly belonged to the Ontario Women Anglers and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. Spending time in nature brought her joy, and she enjoyed countless fishing and hunting trips throughout the years. Some of her most cherished moments were those spent adventuring with her nieces and nephew.
Whether for work or fun, Jen was always ready for a new adventure. She traveled all across Canada including the territories, especially enjoying her trip to Alert Nunavut. Her travels took her throughout the USA as well as Switzerland, where she admired the beauty of different places. When she wasn’t on the road or out fishing or hunting, you could likely find her at a concert-most often catching her favorite band, 54-40, whom she probably saw perform more than 50 times.
Jen had a deep passion for her career and genuinely enjoyed being around her coworkers. She graduated from Seneca College with a diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology. For several years, she worked as a Fire Alarm Technician with Troy Life & Fire Safety Ltd. Her colleagues brought her great happiness, many becoming close friends over time. Around the office, Jen was affectionately known as the resident prankster-often rearranging desks and delighting everyone by hiding rubber ducks around the workplace. Her humor, kindness, and playful nature left a positive impact on everyone lucky enough to know her.
In line with Jen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration of Life at Lakeland Funeral Centre on July 29, 2026 between 1PM-4PM. Words of remembrance will be shared at 2:30PM.
If you’d like to honor Jen’s memory further, donations can be made to the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes or any charity you prefer.
