Toronto police are looking into the discovery of what might be human remains found in a Scarborough neighborhood on Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to the area near Ellesmere Road and Markham Road around 5:50 p. m. after receiving reports of a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, they discovered remains that investigators believe could be human.
The investigation is still in its early stages, according to Toronto police, and no additional information regarding the finding has been shared. Detectives have not yet concluded whether this incident involves any criminal activity.
“If this is determined to be criminal in nature, or this is deemed to be a homicide, more information will be provided,” police told City News.
A police presence continues at the scene as officers work to collect evidence.
