On August 4, 2026, Kelly Rose-Perzan passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a short illness. She fought bravely and with great determination, but unfortunately, she left us too soon.
Kelly was born on April 8, 1960, in Port Arthur, Ontario, to Gordon and Agnes Rose. She graduated from Selkirk High School in 1978 and pursued a career as a Registered Nurse. Over the years, Kelly worked at Mc Kellar Hospital, Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital, and Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre before retiring in 2020.
Kelly took great joy in being a wife and mother. She was a dedicated mom to her eldest daughter Stephanie and later found love with Tony. Together they blended their families beautifully and welcomed their youngest daughter, Elizabeth. The life they created together was everything to her.
Her love for family grew even more when Trevor and Jaret joined her life. She embraced them wholeheartedly from the start; they became the sons she always wanted. Her heart expanded further with the arrival of three lovely granddaughters-Charlotte, Sydney, and Brooklyn. Being their grandma brought her immense happiness; she devoted herself fully to being a loving presence in each of their lives.
Family meant everything to Mom along with friendships, travel, and moments by the water. Keeping everyone connected was vital for her; she had an amazing ability to bring us all together. Whether it was gathering for family dinners or planning trips or enjoying summer days swimming in the pool-Mom made sure we spent time together. Her bond with her siblings included daily phone calls and organizing the Rose’s Christmas Eve celebrations. Kelly crafted countless chances for us to make memories together. She placed high value on closeness within our family; this is one of the greatest gifts she has given us-a legacy we will continue together.
Kelly is lovingly remembered by her husband Tony and daughters Stephanie Opas (Trevor) and Elizabeth Thurier (Jaret), along with her cherished granddaughters Charlotte Opas, Sydney Opas, and Brooklyn Thurier. She is also survived by stepdaughter Maureen Perzan and her children Bryn, Duke, and Rex.
Kelly leaves behind three older siblings: Rodger Rose (Anne), Mary-Ellen Mc Cooeye (Mike), Beth Wickstrom (Dennis), plus many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Agnes Rose along with several dear aunts and uncles.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the Intensive Care Unit staff for their care during this difficult time allowing us peace as we said goodbye to our mom. A heartfelt thanks goes out to Kelly’s sisters as well as best friends Lisa Rozenbergs and Linda Bessel for their unwavering friendship that supported not just Mom but all of us.
Mom-we’re not saying goodbye; it’s just until we meet again. We already love you so much.
