A one-year-old child has been airlifted to a Toronto trauma hospital following a single vehicle accident on Highway 401 in Pickering.
Ontario Provincial Police report that the incident happened in the eastbound express lanes at Brock Road around 2:30 p. m. on Thursday.
ORNGE informed City News that they transported one pediatric patient to the Hospital for Sick Children with serious injuries. According to provincial police, the infant is currently in stable condition.
The female driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
In a late afternoon update, authorities stated that the express lanes of the highway remain closed for investigation purposes, with traffic being redirected into the collector lanes. The westbound lanes were also closed for a short time but have since reopened.
