Toronto police report that three individuals are now facing 150 charges following an investigation into a series of high-end condo burglaries throughout Toronto and York Region.
More than 2,500 items believed to be stolen have been recovered, including jewelry, watches, coins, cash, and precious metals, officials announced on Thursday.
The total value of the recovered items is estimated to be between $1 million and $1.5 million.
Project Compass began in September 2025 when detectives from the Major Crime Unit at 14 Division started investigating break-ins at condominium units.
Authorities allege that the suspects disguised themselves as construction workers to enter residential apartments and condos during daylight hours, targeting jewelry, precious metals, Canadian and foreign currency, family heirlooms, and other valuables.
Initially connecting the group to a series of break-ins in Toronto, investigators later linked another eight to ten incidents dating back to May 2025, according to a police news release.

Detective Sergeant Bruno Miron mentioned that investigators have identified 21 break-ins in Toronto and another eight to ten in different jurisdictions.

As the investigation widened, police discovered another aspect of the alleged operation involving a pawn shop located near Queen and Church streets. “We allege stolen property was being trafficked through this business and converted into cash,” Inspector Joseph Matys stated during a press conference. A search warrant executed at the pawn shop led officers to thousands of items believed to be stolen. No one connected with the pawn shop has been charged yet; however, Miron indicated that part of the investigation is still ongoing. “He’s part of the investigation, and I anticipate that he (store owner) may be facing charges in the near future,” Miron said when asked about potential charges against the pawn shop owner. More on Crime More videos The police confirmed that this investigation ties back to another probe conducted on March 27 when officers executed five search warrants at various homes and vehicles. The initial report indicated three individuals were charged while disguises, break-in tools, suspected stolen property, and a vehicle believed to have been used during these burglaries were seized by authorities. “Officers arrested three individuals laid 150 charges including conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, disguise with intent, breaking enter and possession of proceeds of crime,” Matys explained. Story continues below The focus has now shifted toward finding owners for the recovered items. Police have launched a website where individuals can browse photographs of seized items categorized by type and submit claims if they recognize anything as theirs. “You’ll be contacted by an investigator for further information,” Matys noted.
