A man has been charged with second-degree murder following a deadly assault in St. Catharines on Friday.
Niagara Regional Police reported that officers were dispatched to an assault at a residence on Lakeshore Road just before noon.
A victim was discovered with severe injuries and was transported to the hospital, but unfortunately later died.
Authorities say a suspect was apprehended at a nearby location and also required medical attention for injuries.
Brandon Marzec, 34, from St. Catharines, is facing a charge of second-degree murder. He remains in custody and is set to appear for a bail hearing on Saturday.
The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has initiated its mandate since the suspect sustained injuries during the arrest. Consequently, Niagara police state they cannot provide additional details.
