The Tillsonburg Relay for Life has been cancelled as participation numbers dwindle.
TILLSONBURG – The Tillsonburg Relay for Life is no longer happening.
After 15 years, the organizing committee felt it was time to end the event, according to Janice Cunningham, Manager of the Oxford Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society.
“They did see a declining interest in people that wanted to participate. They certainly were raising a lot of dollars for the Canadian Cancer Society – last year it was over $78,000.”
Since its start in Tillsonburg, the community has raised more than $2.5 million.
Even though this particular event is ending, Cunningham mentions there are still many ways to get involved and support the Canadian Cancer Society.
“If you’re interested in Relay for Life in the area then by all means join us in Woodstock. That event is Friday, June the 9th. If people want to do an event right in Tillsonburg we do have our Great Ride ‘n Stride on Sunday, April the 30th.”
Registration for the Ride ‘N Stride is available online at www. cancer. ca/greatride or at Coward’s Pharmacy.
