Sharon Malec
January 25, 1945 – July 31, 2026
Sharon passed away early on Friday morning at home after a short illness surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Mitch, son Ken, daughter Kari, and her grandchildren Kira (DJ), all from Windsor, along with Connor (Faith) in Surf City North Carolina. She was a sister-in-law to Helen and Keith Andersen, and Paul and Sharon Malec. She was also a loving aunt to Lindsay Malec (Fil) and Matthew Andersen (Karly).
She was predeceased by her parents Rose Emery (1962) and Herman Martin (1947) as well as her dear in-laws Bazel (2008) and Olga Malec (2024).
Throughout their life together, Sharon and Mitch moved around the west – including Calgary, Alberta; Prince George, British Columbia; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Sundance Manitoba; Sudbury, Ontario; Paisely, Ontario; Gillam, Manitoba and finally back home to Windsor.
Mom worked as a school secretary, receptionist, legal secretary, and medical secretary. Her sense of humor and kindness were well known. There was always space at the table for anyone who came through the door.
The house never lacked a beloved cocker spaniel. Miles, the current pampered cocker spaniel, misses his morning toast with jam from his mom. Sharon enjoyed swimming in their pool, gardening, crafts and sharing laughs. She was always ready for an adventure. The destination didn’t matter as long as she was with her family. Many wonderful memories were created together in Florida, Mexico, California, Las Vegas, Cuba, Kentucky, The Carolinas and Paris.
Sharon had countless talents. She could open a can of beans with an axe or iron your shirt perfectly. She gave all the love that a wife and mother could provide.
We will think of her every day and hold onto these cherished memories.
A big thank you to all the friends and neighbors who reached out during her last weeks. Your support meant so much to us all. Kira and Kari were Mom’s angel nurses who were there day and night helping her out. Their loving care is greatly appreciated.
Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (CENTRAL), located at 1700 Tecumseh Rd E., (519)-253-7234 on Wednesday August 5th from 2:00pm-5:00pm and again from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday August 6th from 10:00am until the funeral service begins at 11:00am. Following Sharon’s wishes cremation will take place afterwards.
