HOUSTON (AP) – Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage pitched just two innings on Tuesday night before he had to leave his game against the Houston Astros due to a possible knee injury.
Yesavage issued one walk and managed to throw 16 of his 27 pitches for strikes. While getting ready for the third inning in a scoreless matchup, it seemed like Yesavage’s left knee gave way on one of his throws. He looked uncomfortable after a few more pitches and then headed to the dugout.
The right-hander entered this game with a record of 5-5 for the season, along with a 3.65 ERA across 18 starts.
Yesavage was selected as the 20th overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft by Toronto from East Carolina, and last October he set a Blue Jays postseason record by striking out 11 batters over 5 1/3 no-hit innings against the New York Yankees in the ALDS.
Chad Dallas came into the game as relief for Toronto.
