London police report they are looking into a targeted shooting in the southeast part of the city that resulted in a bullet hole in a garage door.
The event took place just before 4 a. m. on Tuesday at a residence on Julie Crescent, close to Deveron Crescent and Pond Mills Road, according to a police statement.
Several neighbors were outside when they heard what sounded like a gunshot and called the police around 5:15 a. m. after noticing the bullet hole, officers said. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Police mentioned that surveillance footage showed a dark, newer-model Honda entering the area from Deveron Crescent around 3:45 a. m.
The driver gets out of the car on foot and then a gunshot is heard, according to authorities. The suspect quickly returns to the vehicle and drives southbound on Julie Crescent before turning east onto Deveron Crescent.
In his statement, Jon Meinen, a detective sergeant with London’s Guns and Gangs Section, emphasized that innocent members of the community were put at risk since several people were outside or inside the home.
“Gun violence has no place in our community, and we remain committed to identifying those responsible, disrupting violent crime, and removing illegal firearms from our streets. Through enforcement, prevention, and community collaboration, we will continue working to keep London safe,” Meinen said.
“We are asking anyone who may have information, video footage, or who observed suspicious activity in the area to contact investigators as even the smallest detail may assist in advancing this investigation.”
