Photo provided by Deb Gilvesy Deb Gilvesy is running for a second term as the Mayor of Tillsonburg. TILLSONBURG – The Mayor of Tillsonburg wants to continue her work for another four years. Deb Gilvesy is finishing up her first term as Mayor and previously served one term on the town council. While she was a councillor, Gilvesy helped develop the Town of Tillsonburg smartphone app and introduced a tree policy that mandates planting a tree for every new residential property. During her first term as Mayor, she was actively involved in projects like the community centre and replacing the Kinsmen bridge. If re-elected this fall, she plans to focus on upgrading the town’s old fire hall. “It is going to need either an addition or renovation, we’re not sure what that looks like, but it is in the Asset Management Plan. We definitely need to do something with the fire hall and it would be my first priority.” The town is also looking into a partnership with ERTH Power, and Gilvesy hopes to see that project progress as well. She points out that this election will mark the first time residents will vote for a Strong Mayor, which is something they should think about before casting their votes. “I have been a Strong Mayor since May 1st of 2025 and I think I am exemplified not abusing those powers.” The municipal election is set for October 26th.
