Mrs. Emma-Jean Phillips of Tillsonburg, formerly of Delhi, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Saturday, February 21, in her 89th year. Emma was a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant everything to her. She will be fondly remembered by her children: Daniel De Vos (Gloria), Darlene Peel (Frank), Richard De Vos (Colleen), Michael De Vos, and Cathy Krebs (Bryan). She was a proud grandmother to Triese (Lea), Jamie, Crystal (Stephen), Nicholas (Deanna), Kellen (Mandy), Ashlen, Brandon, Nathan, Austin, and Matthew; and a loving great-grandmother to Seth, Maci, Evelyn, and Ivan (step great grandchild). Emma is survived by her sister, Elda Volkaert; her brother, Jerry Deseure; and her daughter-in-law, Barbara De Vos. She was predeceased by her dear husband, Jim Phillips; her former husband, Joseph De Vos; her parents, Erma and Alois; her son, David De Vos; her brother, Marcel Deseure (Dorothy); her sister, Yvonne Van Acker (Henry); her sister-in-law, Christiane Deseure; and her brother-in-law, Joseph Volkaert. A woman of strong faith and community involvement, Emma volunteered for many years with the Catholic Women’s League and celebrated 70 years of Membership in 2025. She also sang in the choir at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish in Delhi. Known for her great sense of style and fashion flair, she organized several fashion shows for charitable causes. Emma brought kindness and grace to both family life and the community around her. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Leadership and Wellness Teams at Harvest Crossing Retirement Home in Tillsonburg for their care and compassion shown to Emma. Emma will be warmly remembered by all who knew her. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME in Delhi at (519) 582-1290 (www. mfh. care) for visitation on Monday March 2nd from 4:00 to 7:00 p. m. A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Delhi on Tuesday March 3rd at 11:00 a. m., followed by interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
