A theft investigation that started with a stolen wallet from a car in Oakville has resulted in several arrests and the recovery of many items believed to be stolen, according to the Halton Regional Police Service.
Officers were first notified in late March when a wallet was taken from a vehicle, and the victim’s credit cards were used illegally. As the investigation moved forward, police identified Kathleen Rand and Daniel Gignac as key suspects.
Rand was arrested on May 11th. Authorities say she had multiple pieces of stolen ID on her when she was apprehended.
Two days later, investigators executed a search warrant at an Oakville home where six people, including Gignac, were arrested. Police recovered methamphetamine and a significant amount of suspected stolen goods from the location.
Among the items seized were six e-bikes, gas generators, power tools, gift cards, and other belongings thought to be linked to criminal activity.
Rand, 22 years old and from Oakville, is facing several charges:

Gignac, 40 years old from Burlington, faces charges for:
Theft of Credit Card (2 Counts) Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data
Police have also charged Kaleb Sciranka, Dennis Costa, Renee Hamilton, Kevin Witts and Michael Tekic with:
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000 Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000 – Trafficking Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
All individuals involved are being held for bail hearings in Milton.
