A “serious” two-vehicle collision resulted in three individuals being taken to hospital and temporarily shut down the Highway 407 westbound ramp towards the QEW and Plains Road in Burlington, Ont., on Monday, according to police.

The Ontario Provincial Police shared details about the accident on social media around 10:30 a. m. By approximately 11:45 a. m., the Highway Safety Division released a video update noting that one of those involved had sustained “possibly life-altering” injuries.

Authorities indicated that the exit from Highway 407 reopened at around 3 p. m.

This incident occurred at approximately 7:45 a. m., said Const. Rob Tihor during the video update. He mentioned that investigators are looking into various factors surrounding the crash, including possible “lack of seatbelt use.”

Police previously warned drivers about potential delays in that area and advised them to seek alternate routes.
