Phillip Grant, a 36-year-old from Toronto, received a five-year prison sentence for a serious incident that happened outside an after-hours club in Windsor. This occurred on June 29, 2024, in the parking lot of Vice, which is located in the 700 block of Erie Street East. Early in the morning, Grant fired a 9 mm handgun into the air, even though he had three lifetime bans on possessing weapons. The Ontario Court of Justice, led by Justice Adam Campbell, issued the sentence on July 6, 2026, after Grant pleaded guilty to multiple firearm-related offenses including possession of a loaded firearm and careless use.
The judge pointed out the serious risks involved with carrying concealed weapons in public areas. At the time of this event, Grant was also wanted by Toronto Police for two counts of second-degree murder. He acknowledged his reckless behavior and expressed remorse during the hearing.
