The City of Sarnia has just received its third quarter payment from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) related to hosting Gateway Casinos Sarnia.

This time, the city is getting $79,270 for the period running from October to December.

So far this fiscal year, which began on April 1, the city has brought in $278,473.

Since Gateway Casinos opened its doors in 1999, Sarnia has collected over $28 million.

In December, the OLG stated it was “working to extend” the Ontario Slots at Racetracks Program and keep the slots at Hiawatha Horse Park open beyond March.

This announcement followed OLG’s previous statement in September that they would close the site in 2026.

In Point Edward, the village received a third quarter payment of $349,679 for hosting Starlight Casino.

Point Edward has gathered $1,197,913 in gaming revenue so far this fiscal year and over $55 million since Starlight Casino opened in April 2000.

The OLG explained that these payments are determined by a formula outlined in the Municipality Contribution Agreement, which uses a graduated scale based on gaming revenue at each hosted site.
