A 32-year-old man has been taken into custody regarding a sexual assault, and Windsor police think there might be more victims out there.
Officers arrived at about 6 a. m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, to the area of Seminole Street near Charlevoix Street.
The female victim informed police that she met the suspect around 4 a. m. at the intersection of Wyandotte Street East and Langlois Avenue. The suspect then drove her to a nearby park where they had consensual sex.
When the victim attempted to end the encounter, she reported that the suspect got angry, showed a firearm, and made threats against her life. She managed to escape to a nearby business for assistance.
The Major Crimes Unit quickly identified a suspect and arrested him on Alexis Road on Wednesday.
Sharmarke Ismail, 32, faces charges of sexual assault with a weapon, occupying a vehicle with a weapon, pointing a firearm, forcible confinement, and making death threats.
The charges are yet to be proven in court.
Windsor police believe there could be other victims and are urging anyone affected to come forward.
The suspect is described as a Black male, standing 5’ 11”, weighing around 200 pounds, with short buzz-cut brown hair and brown eyes. Authorities state that during the incident he was driving a white 2011 Toyota Highlander with Ontario license plate DFNL 754. The vehicle features black leather seats, a full sunroof, a child car seat in the back seat area, and roof rails on both sides.
“Sexual assault defined is any non-consensual sexual touching that violates the sexual integrity of an individual, ranging from unwanted contact to assault involving penetration,” read a social media post from Windsor police.
