82-Year-Old Woman Dies After Accident in Whitby

Durham police report that an 82-year-old woman has passed away after being hit by a vehicle while trying to cross a street in Whitby on Friday.

In a social media update on Saturday, the Durham Regional Police Service indicated that officers were called to the scene of the accident at Brock Street N. and Mary Street W. around 1:15 p. m.

According to Durham police, the pedestrian was rushed to a hospital in Toronto with life-threatening injuries, where she unfortunately died later.

The driver stayed at the location and assisted with the investigation, as stated by Durham police.

In a Friday post on social media, Durham police noted that the intersection of Brock Road N. and Mary Street W. was closed off during the investigation. The roads were reopened around 7 p. m. on Friday, according to information shared with CBC Toronto.

Anyone who has information is encouraged to reach out to law enforcement.
