A 35-year-old man from Whitby is currently wanted under an arrest warrant after facing allegations of sexual assaults involving both a child and an adult.
According to Durham Regional Police, the first reported incident took place in January when the suspect was visiting friends in Clarington and is accused of inappropriately touching a nine-year-old.
The second incident reportedly occurred in February. Police stated that the accused allegedly assaulted an adult at a residence in Whitby. The victim claimed she woke up to find the suspect assaulting her, after which he took her to his vehicle where he allegedly continued the assault.
Authorities have expressed concern that there could be more victims out there.
Jared Mercieca is wanted for charges including sexual interference with someone under 16 years old, two counts of sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, choking, making threats to cause death, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
He is described as a white male standing 5-foot-6 with a medium build, brown hair, and a full beard.
