Ontario’s Particular Investigations Unit (SIU) has launched new particulars concerning the victims of a deadly wrong-way collision in Whitby on Monday night time.


In a launch, the SIU mentioned that two of the victims, a 60-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, have been visiting from India.


The couple’s three-month-old grandson additionally died within the multi-vehicle collision, which closed Freeway 401 close to Freeway 412, for a number of hours.


The civilian company mentioned that the mother and father of the toddler, his 33-year-old father and 27-year-old mom, have been travelling in the identical car and have been taken to hospital.


The mom’s accidents are critical, the SIU mentioned.


The company additionally mentioned that there have been two folks contained in the cargo van that was concerned within the crash. The van’s 21-year-old driver was pronounced lifeless on the scene, whereas a 38-year-old male passenger was taken to the hospital to be handled for critical accidents.


The autopsies for the victims all occurred in Toronto on Wednesday.


Officers have mentioned the lethal automobile chase began with a liquor retailer theft in Bowmanville and ended round 20 minutes later after the suspect led Durham police on a high-speed chase towards opposing visitors on Freeway 401.


The SIU has designated two topic officers and 4 witness officers to the investigation.
