Seven individuals are facing a total of 54 charges following an extensive month-long investigation by provincial police that uncovered a loaded handgun and a large amount of illegal drugs.

The Lennox and Addington County OPP report that the East Region Community Street Crime Unit, with support from the Durham Region Police Tactical Unit, carried out search warrants on Thursday at homes located on Dundas Street in Napanee and Mount Pleasant Avenue in Whitby.

During these searches, officers confiscated just over one kilogram of suspected cocaine, 16 grams of suspected fentanyl, and nearly 50 Percocet tablets. They also discovered a fully loaded handgun along with ammunition, about $20,000 in mixed Canadian and American cash, as well as approximately $40,000 worth of jewelry believed to be obtained through criminal activity, along with scales and cellphones.

Jermain Simmonds, 33, and Karen Mills, 35, both from Whitby, are facing multiple charges including possession of cocaine, fentanyl, and Percocet for trafficking purposes. They are also charged with unauthorized possession of a loaded firearm, careless storage of a firearm, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Simmonds has an additional charge for operating a vehicle while prohibited.

Dionne Wilson, 55, and Charles Wilson, 36-both from Whitby-were charged together with possession of cocaine intended for trafficking purposes as well as possession of property obtained by crime valued over $5,000 along with several firearms-related offences.

Meanwhile, Jayden Vinceanthony, 24 from Pickering; Justin Hutson, 42 from Napanee; and Sarah Voss, 39 from Tyendinaga were all charged together with possession of cocaine, fentanyl, and Percocet for trafficking alongside possession of property obtained by crime plus conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Vinceanthony was further charged for failing to comply with a probation order.

The police state that six of those accused were held in custody awaiting a bail hearing in Greater Napanee on Friday. Dionne Wilson has been released and is set to appear in court at a later date.
