Authorities report that a woman has died after being struck by a light rail train in Waterloo, Ont.
Waterloo regional police indicate the tragic incident occurred Saturday night near Dutton Drive in the northern part of the city.

At the scene, police found a pedestrian who had been hit by an ION train.
Officials say they tried life-saving efforts but sadly, the woman passed away at the location.

The police have conducted an investigation into the accident and no charges have been filed.
The ION light rail service operates for 19 stops linking the north side of Waterloo and the south end of Kitchener.
