Waterloo regional police have taken a man into custody following a series of incidents involving weapons in Waterloo.
At around 2:30 p. m. on May 2, local police responded to calls about a man displaying a weapon at a drive-thru on Erb Street West.
According to the investigation, the suspect approached the driver of a car while holding a firearm and demanded that the driver exit the vehicle.
The suspect then fled the scene but was later found by officers and arrested. During his arrest, police recovered the firearm, which was identified as a replica weapon.
The investigation has led to charges against the 36-year-old male suspect for:
– Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
– Pointing of a firearm
– Robbery with a firearm
– Attempted theft of a motor vehicle
– Carrying of a concealed weapon
– Using firearm in the commission of an offence
