This weekend is packed with activities in the Waterloo region and Guelph, featuring pre-Halloween festivities, sports, and delicious treats.

Brewer’s Brass offers an enjoyable evening at Together We’re Bitter Brewing in Kitchener where head brewer Peter Collins showcases another talent: playing the bass trombone. His brass quartet will perform in a cozy concert on Saturday night.

A shops and hops event takes place at Waterloo Brewing on Sunday from 2 p. m. to 6 p. m., featuring local vendors setting up in the taphouse.

The Museum in downtown Kitchener presents Jazz on King on Sunday from 4 p. m. to 7 p. m., featuring a performance by the Tim Moher Quartet. This event is part of a new series at The Museum, offering drinks and light snacks for purchase.

The Guelph Climate Action Network is hosting a community climate forum on Sunday afternoon with speakers and local groups ready to discuss ways for people to get involved and make an impact. Registration is free but requested.

The Ontario Cheese Festival happens in Elora on Saturday at the Grand River Raceway, where attendees can sample cheese, wine, beer, cider, and other specialty foods. Tickets are needed for entry. There are also additional workshops available like a guided cheese tasting or discussions about the science of cheese.

The Kitchener Rangers will face off against the Flint Firebirds Friday night at The Aud, then play again at home on Sunday at 6 p. m., taking on the North Bay Battalion.

The Guelph Storm will host the Kingston Frontenacs Friday evening followed by a game against the Ottawa 67s at Sleeman Centre at 2 p. m. on Sunday.

With Halloween around the corner, several events will take place this weekend allowing kids to grab some early candy treats.

Treat in the Streets occurs in uptown Waterloo from 1 p. m. to 4 p. m., where businesses hand out candy along with live music and many people dressed up in costumes. Halloween Hunt takes place in downtown Cambridge (Galt) from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m., while Hespeler Village Halloween Hunt runs along Queen Street E. in Cambridge (Hespeler) from noon until 2 p. m. Trick or Treat starts at noon in downtown Guelph with a party happening in St. George’s Square that includes a DJ and guests walking down a red carpet before visiting local shops for candy treats. Downtown Stratford Halloween offers goodies for kids between 2 p. m. and 4 p. m.

Note: The annual tot parade hosted by The Museum will be held on Friday, Oct. 31.

Pumpkin Palooza

Saturdays from 3 to 8 PM

St. Jacobs

This village transforms into your ultimate Halloween destination Saturday! Enjoy pumpkin carving contests during the afternoon alongside live music, storytime at The Witches Den (the Book Life), cookie decorating sessions, Snow White handing out safe-to-eat apples, fun photo ops-including those with dogs-and both trick-or-treating plus late-night shopping!

UW Gem & Mineral Show & Kids’ Science Open House

Gem & Mineral Show: Friday from 12 to 6 PM; Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM.

Kiddos Science Open House: Saturday between 10:30 AM-4:30 PM.

This gem & mineral exhibition features two floors filled with gems minerals fossils jewelry!
