Wasaga Beach, known as the go-to spot for beach lovers in the Toronto area, is about to see some exciting changes that will redefine this popular Ontario destination.

Boasting the world’s longest freshwater beach and one of Ontario’s favorite summer attractions, the Town of Wasaga Beach has recently revealed that Sunray Group will be constructing a Premium Marriott Hotel in the beachfront commercial zone.

Mayor Brian Smith stated that this significant investment from Sunray Group will enhance the local scene by supporting smaller inns, cottages, and eateries. He mentioned it stands for local job creation, higher-quality tourism, and encouraging longer stays in this town located at the southern end of Georgian Bay.

“Wasaga Beach is excited to partner with Sunray Group, as we continue to redevelop our beachfront commercial area and unlock our community’s full potential to become a thriving, year-round destination.”

An acclaimed hotelier, Sunray plans to invest over $45 million into building this luxury hotel along with other amenities close to the town’s famous beachfront and primary tourist hub. Construction is set to kick off in early 2026. The company will also contribute $1.5 million toward designing and creating a festival square next to the hotel near the beach. This space will be used by the town for outdoor entertainment and special events.

Sunray Group will build a Premium Marriott Hotel in Wasaga Beach’s beachfront commercial area. The town, known as Toronto’s top beach getaway, features the world’s longest freshwater beach.

Following news of Sunray’s project, Wasaga Beach has begun work on Phase 1 of a new mixed-use village nearby. This high-quality development aims to include various residential and commercial spaces housing new shops and cafés alongside the luxury hotel.

Wasaga Beach has been working hard for decades to attract a premium brand hotel right on its beachfront and sees more than two million visitors each year.
