The resident of the house won’t face charges after firing at intruders early Tuesday morning.

Update (March 18)

Authorities have shared the name of a man who was shot during a home invasion in Vaughan on Tuesday, along with the charges against him.

Trestin Cassanova-Alman, 24, who does not have a permanent address, is facing charges of robbery with a firearm, wearing a disguise to commit an offense, and violating a probation order.

He is currently being held in police custody at the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

In December 2025, Cassanova-Alman was listed as wanted due to his connection with Project Wrangler, which dismantled a violent gang operating across Ontario and Quebec.

The other three suspects involved in Tuesday’s home invasion are still being pursued by law enforcement.

Original story (March 17)

A suspect has been arrested after being shot during an armed home invasion that took place on Tuesday in Vaughan.

At around 12:50 a. m., police responded to reports of gunfire at a residence located near Carrville Woods Circle and Crimson Forest Drive. Investigators found out that suspects wielding at least one firearm broke into the home.

“An occupant of the home accessed a legally owned and properly stored firearm and discharged it toward the suspects,” York Regional Police said in a news release.

The suspects were spotted getting into a black pickup truck and fleeing the scene before officers arrived.

The residents inside the home did not sustain any physical injuries.

Around 3:15 a. m., authorities were informed that a man had been dropped off at a hospital in Toronto with gunshot wounds shortly after the break-in occurred. Police established that he was injured during the incident.

Charges against this individual, whose identity hasn’t been disclosed yet, are still pending. He remains under police custody in stable condition at the hospital.

“Following evidence gathered at the scene by investigators, charges have not been laid against the occupant of the home who discharged the firearm,” police stated.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through 1800222tips. com.
