In the early hours of August 31st, officers responded to an emergency call about a home invasion at a residence near Andreeta Drive and Barons Street. They found Farooqi suffering from gunshot wounds; he was declared dead despite attempts at lifesaving measures.
The suspects arrived at the scene driving a Honda CR-V that had been reported stolen from Toronto.
The intruders – one armed with a gun – broke into the house, shot Farooqi, then fled the scene according to law enforcement officials.
The location is believed to have been targeted as part of a robbery; however, investigators are still looking into what motivated this act according to Fiore.
