Toronto police report that human remains were discovered in Scarborough on Sunday afternoon.
In an email sent to CBC Toronto on Sunday evening, Toronto Police Service spokesperson Stephanie Miceli mentioned that officers were called to a suspicious situation near the intersection of Ellesmere Road and Markham Road just before 6 p. m.
Upon their arrival, officers found what looked like human remains, she stated.
Miceli noted that the investigation is ongoing and there isn’t any additional information available at this moment.
If it’s determined that the incident involves criminal activity, Toronto police will share more details, she added.
Toronto Fire confirmed they responded to the scene shortly after 6 p. m. for a medical call.
According to Toronto paramedics, they also arrived at the scene shortly after 6 p. m. but did not transport anyone.
