Renate Else Kueppers (nee Kuhn) passed away peacefully at the age of 91, surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife to Peter (who predeceased her) and a caring mother to John (Janet), Hardy (Laurie), Roy (Sherrill), and Kirk. She is survived by her brother Werner Kuhn (Doris) who lives in Germany. Renate was a proud grandmother ‘Oma’ to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as being dearly loved by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Renate was devoted to her family and friends and was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church in Tillsonburg, Ontario. She immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1954, married Peter, and initially settled in Toronto before moving to Tillsonburg in 1973. Renate loved bringing her family together for celebrations, meals, or just coffee and dessert. She could create something delicious quickly without needing a recipe-often using just a few ingredients. Her family and many friends will surely miss her, including neighbors who often enjoyed the muffins she made and delivered. Even after experiencing a stroke in late August this year, Renate maintained her youthful spirit and energetic lifestyle until then.
A special thank you goes out to Mom’s close friends Martha Cook and Lilian Mackenzie, along with her church community-especially Father Patrick, Vermell Stevens, and Carol Honsberger. We also appreciate the kind nurses at the Stroke Unit of St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for their welcoming care toward visiting family and friends.
In line with Renate’s wishes, cremation has taken place. If you wish to honor her memory further, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. John’s Anglican Church in Tillsonburg.
