Police are asking the community for help in finding those responsible for a break-in at a business close to Tillsonburg.

Norfolk OPP reported that the break-in occurred sometime between 4 p. m. on Friday, Sept. 12 and 7:20 a. m. on Monday, Sept. 15 at a location on Jackson Side Road near the Norfolk-Oxford border. 

A variety of power tools were stolen from several buildings, including cordless drills, impact guns, chainsaws, and work lights. 

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If you want to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit an online tip at helpsolvecrime. com where you might be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Oxford OPP investigating online fraud in Tillsonburg

The Oxford OPP is looking into a case after a resident from Tillsonburg reported being scammed through an online job ad.

The victim explained that they found out about a work-from-home opportunity via an ad on social media. They responded through a texting app as instructed by the suspected scammer.

After communicating for a few days and sending multiple e-transfers totaling just under $1,000, the victim reached out to police with suspicions about the situation.

The police remind everyone to be cautious when sending money for anything found online. If you believe you’ve been scammed, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or reach out to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Driver and passenger charged during RIDE program

A driver and passenger faced charges after being stopped during a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in Simcoe.

<p. On Sept.15 around12:20a. m., Norfolk County OPP officers pulled overavehicleon Norfolk Street North in Simcoe.

Duringthe stop , police statedthat officers discoveredthe driver was operatingthe vehicle withoutinsuranceandthatapassenger attemptedto flee.

The driver , a35-year-oldresidentof Norfolk County , hasbeen chargedwithoperatingamotorvehiclewithoutinsurance; anddrivingamotorvehiclewithnocurrentlyvalidatedpermit.

A29-year-oldresidentof Norfolk Countyischargedwithobstructpeaceofficer.
