A man is in critical condition after a reported assault and a fire at a building in Tillsonburg, Ont., on Saturday afternoon, as stated by Ontario Provincial Police.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the Prospect Street area around 4:45 p. m. following an assault report. Authorities say the victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition.

While handling the assault situation, emergency services were also alerted about a fire at a structure on Prospect Street. Police haven’t confirmed if both incidents are related, and the investigation is ongoing.

A 41-year-old man from Tillsonburg has been charged with aggravated assault and arson. He is currently held in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
