A civilian worker with the Thunder Bay Police Service is returning from Windsor after receiving an award for her exceptional contributions to the community.

Olivia Gater was honored with the On-Duty Difference Maker award at the Police Association of Ontario’s 94th Annual Meeting and Convention in Windsor, recognizing her efforts as a civilian police employee who goes above and beyond.

According to a statement from the association, Gater is seen as “a vital bridge between policing and social care, helping vulnerable individuals access the support they need.”

The association highlighted that Gater has been instrumental in creating the Reconnect U and In Reach initiatives, which assist people in crisis by connecting them with necessary resources.
