Workers earning minimum wage in Ontario will see a 1.9 per cent increase, bringing their pay from $17.60 to $17.95 an hour.
This adjustment is made annually under Ontario’s Employment Standards Act, which mandates a yearly minimum wage hike on October 1 based on the increase of the province’s Consumer Price Index (CPI).
A worker making minimum wage and putting in 40 hours each week can look forward to earning just over $700 more this year.
