A man from southern Ontario is now in police custody facing charges related to drug trafficking after a collaborative investigation in Thunder Bay.

The operation was led by an Ontario Provincial Police provincial guns and gangs enforcement team, which included members from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service and the Thunder Bay Police Service. They began looking into suspected drug trafficking activities in the Thunder Bay area during the fall of 2025.

The OPP urges anyone with tips about illegal firearms or drugs in their community to reach out at 1-888-310-1122 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Major Drug Bust

This investigation resulted in an arrest near the intersection of Highway 11/17 and Dawson Road in Thunder Bay on December 8.

Following this, police found around 230 grams of suspected fentanyl, 680 grams of suspected cocaine, and 200 grams of suspected crack cocaine.

“The estimated street value of the drugs seized is more than $202,500,” stated OPP in a news release on Tuesday.
