On Friday, the Niagara Regional Police Service named him as Kenneth Dombroskie, 53.
This week, authorities reported that an unnamed man had died when a tent caught fire in a wooded area. In their news release, police mentioned they discovered a “large active fire involving a tent” at Mountain Locks Park along Merritt Trail early Tuesday morning.
The criminal investigative branch of the Niagara Regional Police Service and the Ontario fire marshal’s office started looking into the matter, police stated.
“Based on the findings of the ongoing investigation, this incident has been determined to be a homicide,” police said in a news release Friday, adding they will continue to investigate.
