Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he has met with the mayors of two municipalities in the Niagara Region that are dealing with severe flooding and have declared states of emergency.
Ford mentioned in a social media post this afternoon that he listened to “directly from workers and community members impacted by the recent flooding” in St. Catharines and the nearby town of Lincoln.

Both towns declared states of emergency on Monday after consecutive storms brought about 250 millimetres of rain to parts of the region within just a week. The storms resulted in nearly a quarter of the area’s usual yearly rainfall, causing extensive flooding across thousands of homes and businesses.
