They’re looking for an experienced General Contracting firm with strong Heritage rehabilitation skills that are essential for delivering this project successfully within scope , on time , and within budget while focusing on quality and performance. The existing St. Catharines Train Station is a Heritage building that recently completed site redevelopment allowing new bus loop capabilities , upgraded passenger parking lot accommodations , newly improved access bridge over St. Paul , and new main site access off Ridley Rd. Since taking ownership of the station , the Region has been making progress toward important improvements for both site and facility. Phase II involves restoring the existing “Westerly Covered Platform” back into use so passengers can wait or be dropped off comfortably again. The Niagara Region has collaborated closely with St. Catharines Heritage Department ensuring Heritage aspects will be preserved throughout renovations while enhancing structure functionality which means successful bidders need strong knowledge around Heritage renovations. A Municipal Building Permit has already been secured by Niagara Region allowing work to proceed smoothly under CCDC 2 -2020 contract along with Prime Consultant and Owner support.
