One individual has died and a number of other others are injured after a tire struck the windshield of a tour bus on the QEW in St. Catharines Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded shortly earlier than 3:30 p.m. to the scene on the backside of the Backyard Metropolis Skyway Bridge.

Niagara EMS spokesperson Bryce Brunarski says the tire of a minivan flew into the windshield of the tour bus carrying 38 passengers.

He says one individual was pronounced lifeless on the scene.

The OPP says an unidentified 47-year-old man from Toronto who was a passenger on this coach bus was killed when a stray tire crashed by way of the windshield and struck him. He was pronounced lifeless on the scene.

A forty five-year-old man from New York state who was driving the minivan that misplaced its wheel has been served a part-three summons for driving an unsafe motorcar.

Paramedics transported three individuals to an area hospital, one with a critical eye harm and two others with minor accidents from glass.

The OPP’s freeway security division confirmed Friday evening all lanes of the QEW Toronto certain at Glendale are open.

An Orange air ambulance was referred to as to the scene however later referred to as off.
