This August long weekend, public transit will change to holiday hours, some stores will reduce their opening times and festivals will take over parts of Toronto.
Here’s your guide to what’s open and closed in the city to make the most of your holiday weekend.

The TTC will run regular hours on Saturday and Sunday with a holiday schedule on Monday. This will mirror the Sunday service schedule but will start earlier, at approximately 6 a. m.
All GO Trains will run on a Saturday schedule on Monday, according to Metrolinx.
Residents are encouraged to check transit route schedules and plan ahead when taking GO trains.
You can also take advantage of Metrolinx’s $10 holiday passes offering unlimited travel on GO trains and buses for the day.

Most grocery stores will remain open throughout the weekend with some reducing their hours on Monday. Check your local store before heading out.
St. Lawrence Market will close on Monday but will operate normally from 7 a. m. to 5 p. m. on Saturday and 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. on Sunday.
Drug stores are also expected to operate on holiday hours Monday (hours vary between stores and location).
Some LCBO and Beer Store locations will be open on Monday but not all. Check your local store for more details.

Most tourist attractions in the city will operate except for The Museum of Contemporary Art and Fort York National Historic Site.
Ferries to Toronto Island will operate regularly all weekend with additional service to Center Island added to accommodate higher demand.
All branches of the Toronto Public Library will be closed.

Toronto’s Caribbean Carnival is set at Exhibition Place along Lake Shore Boulevard, celebrating Caribbean music, diversity, and community.

The Toronto Police Service mentioned that road closures for the parade begin Saturday, Aug. 1 at 12 a. m., lasting until Sunday, August 2 at 6 a. m.
The festival’s website anticipates over one million attendees participating in the Caribbean Festival.
The Veld music festival brings top EDM artists together at Downsview Park, claiming its spot as Canada’s largest electronic music festival.
The Toronto Food Truck Festival is happening in Woodbine Park featuring more than two dozen local food truck vendors along with live entertainment.
If you’re into sports, catch the professional tennis tournament – National Bank Open – running from Saturday through Monday at Sobeys Stadium.
