A provincewide warrant has been issued for Waheed Barakziye, 48, of London, Ont., related to murder charges stemming from Giovanni Costa’s death in Bolton.
A man from Barrie has been arrested and charged with attempted murder as part of an ongoing homicide investigation outside his area.
According to provincial police, two individuals have been taken into custody and another is being sought in connection with a 2020 attempted murder in Vaughan and a 2021 homicide in Bolton.
At around 6:30 p. m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, York Regional Police responded to reports of a shooting on Steeles Avenue West in Vaughan. One person was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
On Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at approximately 12:30 p. m., Caledon OPP reported that officers were called to a shooting on Harvest Moon Drive in Bolton.
“It was reported that two individuals entered a residence and shot two occupants inside the home, one of whom was the victim of the November 2020 incident in Vaughan,” OPP stated in a news release.
Officers found another occupant, 65-year-old Giovanni Costa from Bolton, dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, Christopher Brown, 28, from Barrie was arrested and charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, discharging a firearm with intent and possession of firearms contrary to prohibition order.
The following day on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, Neheniah Tirfe, 25 from Toronto was also arrested and faced charges including first-degree murder and attempted murder.
Both suspects are currently held in custody and are set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on Thursday, Nov. 20.
All allegations remain unproven until tested in court.
As part of this ongoing investigation process, a provincewide warrant was issued Wednesday for Waheed Barakziye who is wanted for charges that include first-degree murder along with two counts of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Barakziye is described as standing five-foot-10 and weighing around 196 pounds; he is known to frequent areas in London and Greater Toronto according to police reports.
“Members of the public are urged not to approach this individual. If seen please contact police immediately,” OPP stated in their release.
The initial incident was originally investigated by York Regional Police but both cases are now under investigation by the Caledon OPP Crime Unit directed by the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
“While these arrests mark significant progress forward we still continue pursuing additional suspects. We encourage anyone with information especially if you recognize the wanted individual, to get hold of police as soon as possible,” said OPP Det. Insp. Steven Martell from the Criminal Investigation Branch.
The provincial government is offering up a $50 ,000 reward for any information leading directly towards arresting those responsible for Costa’s murder.
