Authorities report that the fire on Sept. 10 occurred on Echo Island at Kawagama Lake in Algonquin Highlands.
A 47-year-old resident of Bradford is facing arson charges after an investigation into a fire on an island property in early September.
On Sept. 10, the Haliburton Highlands Ontario Provincial Police detachment and local emergency crews responded to a fire on Echo Island situated on Kawagama Lake within the Township of Algonquin Highlands. The fire was deemed suspicious, prompting the OPP Crime Unit to take over the case.
Following their investigation, John Mac Fadden has been taken into custody and charged with:
Arson – damage to property contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused has been released from police custody and is expected to appear in front of the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden at a later date.
