In connection with a homicide investigation in Simcoe, Norfolk OPP are worried there might be another victim. Robert Sykes, who is 49 years old, has not been located and was last spotted on Head St. South on Saturday, October 4, 2025. SUBMITTED

As the homicide investigation unfolds in Simcoe, police are concerned about the possibility of a second victim and are reaching out to the public for help.

On Sunday, Oct. 5, shortly after 10:30 a. m., Norfolk OPP officers responded to a call made to 9-1-1 at a home on Head Street South. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a woman who was later identified as Barbara Morgan, aged 71.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, officers carried out a search warrant at a property on Stanley Street in Simcoe.

The ongoing investigation has led police to express concern for the welfare of another individual, Robert Sykes, who is also from Simcoe and currently missing. He was last seen on Head Street South on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Sykes is described as a white male standing around five-foot-10 and weighing approximately 120 pounds. He has long dirty blond hair that he usually ties back in a ponytail and sports a long beard/goatee; he may also be wearing glasses.

Residents nearby should expect an ongoing police presence as officers continue to canvass homes in the Head Street South and Stanley Street area to speak with community members.

A police vehicle was observed parked in the driveway of one residence on Stanley Street last Friday. The previous day saw what appeared to be forensic personnel entering that same house while additional police vehicles were present both on the street and at the site.

The authorities believe this is an isolated case and assure that there is no continuing threat to public safety.

The Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit is actively pursuing this investigation under guidance from the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch alongside collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. The OPP Forensic Identification Services are also assisting with this case.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators should contact the Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. If you prefer to remain anonymous, reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or visit ontariocrimestoppers. ca.
