Ontario Provincial Police report that they are looking into a homicide case in Simcoe after a 71-year-old woman was found dead inside her home.
The body of Barbara Morgan was located on Sunday morning, according to a police news release.
Officers arrived at the residence on Head Street South just after 10:30 a. m., leading to an increased police presence in the neighborhood.
“Preliminary information suggests this is an isolated incident, with no indication of a broader threat,” the news release stated.
The Norfolk OPP crime unit is conducting the investigation in cooperation with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto, with help from OPP Forensic Identification Services.
Authorities indicated there’s no known risk to the community but urged people “to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to police as a precaution.”
A post-mortem examination will be held on Monday, according to OPP officials.
