Ontario Provincial Police say they are looking into a homicide case in Simcoe after a 71-year-old woman was found deceased in her home.
The body of Barbara Morgan was located Sunday morning, according to a police news release.
Officers arrived at the residence on Head Street South shortly after 10:30 a. m. There’s an increased police presence in the neighborhood.
“Preliminary information suggests this is an isolated incident, with no indication of a broader threat,” the news release stated.
Police mentioned that the Norfolk OPP crime unit is investigating in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto, with help from the OPP Forensic Identification Services.
Authorities noted there’s no known risk to the community but urged residents “to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to police as a precaution.”
OPP announced that a post-mortem examination will take place on Monday.
