Mildmay country artist Owen Riegling walked away with more awards than any other nominee at the Country Music Association of Ontario Awards on Sunday night.
He took home wins in three out of the four categories he was nominated for, including male artist of the year, fans’ choice, and single of the year for “Taillight this Town.”
This marks the third consecutive year Riegling has won male artist of the year and his second straight win for fans’ choice.
Riegling didn’t win songwriter of the year; that honor went to Jessica Sevier, Robyn Ottolini, and Derek Hoffman for “Good to Drive.”
The evening also showcased performances from Riegling and others such as Sully Burrows, Olivia Mae Graham, Jessica Sevier, Elyse Saunders, School House, Tyler Lorette, Cory Marks, Les Rats d’Swompe, along with The Western Swing Authority as the CMAOntario house band.
The 14th annual awards took place at Port Credit Memorial Arena in Mississauga. Hosted by Jason Blaine-a multi-CMAOntario and Canadian Country Music Association award winner-and Sam Mc Daid from Country Nights, the event concluded the CMAOntario Festival and Awards Weekend.
