Authorities report that a resident of Walpole Island First Nation is facing charges after police discovered firearms and narcotics during a raid last week.

On Friday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a search at a residence on Tecumseh Road as part of an ongoing drug investigation that started in January.

The operation led to the seizure of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, several firearms, Canadian currency, and other illegal items. Police claim these items have an estimated value of about $19,400.

After the search concluded, officers took a 41-year-old individual from Walpole Island into custody.

The suspect has been charged with possession of fentanyl for trafficking purposes, 18 counts related to possession of firearms or ammunition in violation of a prohibition order, four counts for unauthorized firearm possession, two counts for possessing prohibited devices or ammunition, and careless storage of guns or prohibited devices.

The suspect remains in custody awaiting a future court date.
