Grey County is celebrating a big win after its “Gather in Grey” initiative was awarded the best campaign at the 2026 Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence in Ottawa.
Presented by the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario, this award highlights exceptional destination marketing in the over fifty-thousand-dollar category for efforts that encourage travel and support local economies.
The campaign outshined strong competitors, including entries from Waterloo and Hamilton, by highlighting genuine local stories. Internationally renowned chef Roger Mooking took part as the region’s first Creative Director and Culinary Ambassador, traveling throughout the county to showcase local farmers, restaurateurs, artisans, and makers.
Since its full rollout, the campaign has produced nearly two million digital impressions and attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors to the area’s online trip-planning tools. The initiative was so successful that local leaders have adopted it as the county’s official tourism brand, replacing the previous “Visit Grey” identity.
Director of Economic Development, Tourism, and Culture Savanna Myers shared that this honor reflects the dedication of community members who enhance the region’s culture.
“This recognition reflects the collaborative efforts of tourism operators, businesses, artists, farmers, makers, community partners, and residents whose stories continue to shape Grey County’s tourism experience and reputation as a destination where people come together,” Myers said.
