The Ontario government is providing a $1.5-million grant to a company in Harrow that aims to bring back the production of switchgears from the U. S.

Ener Quest Technologies Solutions Inc. is growing its facility in Harrow, which will lead to 125 new jobs and help secure the positions of 154 current employees at the plant.

This company produces prefabricated electrical equipment and intends to shift its switchgear sub-assembly manufacturing in-house, which will lessen its dependence on its sister facility located in the U. S. This change should help reduce tariff risks for the business and enable Ener Quest to fulfill confirmed contract needs for essential data center infrastructure, modular housing, and medical units.

“Ener Quest’s expansion speaks not only to the resilience of Ontario’s manufacturing sector, but to the reliability of our workforce and the power of partnership,” said Ontario Economic Development Minister Vic Fedeli. “Through the Regional Development Program, our government is proud to support a company that is driving forward regional economic priorities and strengthening domestic supply chains through the reshoring of its operations.”

Ener Quest is investing $15.8-million into this expansion.

“Ener Quest’s investment will support growth and innovation across the local manufacturing sector and create more good-paying jobs for workers and families in Essex County,” added Essex MPP Anthony Leardi.

Director at Ener Quest, Malena Marshall, mentioned that this expansion could only happen with community backing.

“Harrow has been more than just a location for our operations,” she said. “It has been a partner in our growth. The support of local leaders, educators, and residents has helped create an environment where companies like Ener Quest can invest with confidence and build long-term careers for the people who live here.”
