The Friday afternoon and evening drive in midwestern Ontario might be challenging.
Environment Canada has put out a special weather statement for the whole area, alerting everyone about blowing and drifting snow, along with some freezing drizzle.
Winds will strengthen in the afternoon, reaching gusts of up to 50 kilometres an hour from the southwest. This will cause snow to shift around, making visibility on the roads much worse, especially in areas that are more exposed and prone to wind.
By evening and into the night, there’s a chance of freezing drizzle.
“Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Roads, walkways, and other surfaces may become icy and slippery,” Environment Canada cautioned in its statement.
Any freezing drizzle that occurs should stop by Saturday morning.
